Digital Citizenship Survey
I sent the survey to the principals at both schools, the curriculum director, the superintendent, and the technology coordinator. The analysis of this data shows that people have varied responses to each element of digital citizenship. Plagarizm is a priority and a major concern, which is interesting. The other concern that was noted was dropping out of school for lack of distance learning alternatives. I would like to have more dialogue with the admins about the opportunities our school could provide with some online learning and flipped classroom opportunities. We’re just getting started with project based learning and I see some amazing opportunities for some technology-based learning that allows students to learn in non-traditional ways outside the actual wall of the classroom. High school students have a lot of free time and they sit around in the library basically doing nothing. I have offered to do a research class or even come up with some type of “genius hour” that would provide an opportunity for these kids to gain some research skills, problem solving and critical thinking prospects. This might be where gaming could play a role. I’m excited to see what we can do in the next year or two. The possibilites are exciting.
